Terms and Conditions
The terms governing your use of Errata.
These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of Errata.
Errata is operated by Mazin Sharaf (“Errata”, “we”, “us” or “our”).
By using Errata, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree to them, do not use the service.
1. What Errata does
Errata is an educational revision tool.
You can provide study material and Errata can use automated systems to create revision exercises containing deliberate mistakes for you to identify and correct.
Errata is intended to support learning. It is not a replacement for teachers, textbooks, official course material, examination guidance or professional advice.
2. AI-generated material is not always correct
Errata uses artificial intelligence.
Although the service is designed to base exercises on the material you provide, generated questions, answers, explanations, corrections and feedback may sometimes be inaccurate, incomplete or unsuitable.
You are responsible for checking important information against reliable sources, including your original study material and guidance from your teacher, school, course provider or examining body.
Do not rely on Errata as an infallible source of factual information.
3. Young users
You may use Errata only if you are legally allowed to agree to these Terms.
If the law where you live requires permission from a parent or guardian to use an online service, you may use Errata only with that permission.
If you are unsure, you should review these Terms with a parent or guardian.
4. Your uploads
You keep any rights you already have in material you upload to Errata.
You must have the right or permission to upload and process that material.
You must not upload material that:
By uploading material, you give Errata a limited, non-exclusive permission to host, copy, transmit and process that material only as reasonably necessary to provide, operate, secure and maintain the service.
This permission ends when the relevant material is deleted, except where limited retention is reasonably necessary for security, legal obligations or similar legitimate purposes.
- is unlawful;
- infringes another person’s intellectual-property rights;
- you are not authorised to share;
- contains another person’s private or sensitive information without appropriate permission; or
- would make your use of Errata unlawful.
5. Acceptable use
You must use Errata responsibly.
You must not:
We may restrict or suspend access where reasonably necessary to protect Errata, its users or its service providers.
- attempt to access another person’s guest workspace;
- interfere with or disrupt the service;
- attempt to bypass security measures or usage limits;
- deliberately overload or abuse the service;
- use automated methods to make excessive requests;
- attempt to obtain unauthorised access to Errata or its supporting services;
- upload malicious software or harmful content;
- use Errata to break the law or help another person do so; or
- misrepresent your authority to provide material to the service.
6. Usage limits
Errata may apply reasonable limits to use of the service.
These may include limits relating to file sizes, storage, uploads, question generation, correction checking or the frequency of requests.
Current limits may be shown within the service and may change as Errata develops.
Trying to avoid or reset those limits is not permitted.
Clearing your workspace deletes your revision content but does not reset usage allowances that apply to your guest device.
7. Deleting your material
You can permanently delete individual uploaded files through Errata.
You can also use Clear workspace to permanently remove the workspace's uploaded files, revision sessions, generated questions, answers and revision history.
Limited records required to maintain usage limits, prevent abuse, protect the service or meet legal obligations may remain after workspace content is cleared.
Deletion cannot necessarily remove information that has already been lawfully retained by third-party service providers under their own security, legal or operational obligations.
8. Saving your work
Errata currently uses guest workspaces rather than permanent user accounts.
You are responsible for keeping copies of study material or information that is important to you.
We do not promise that a guest workspace or revision history will be available forever. Browser data may be cleared, credentials may expire, the service may change, and technical problems may occasionally result in loss of access.
Do not use Errata as your only storage location for important material.
9. Errata's intellectual property
The Errata website, branding, design, software and other material created for the service are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws.
These Terms do not give you ownership of Errata or its software.
You may use the service for its intended purpose, but you may not copy, sell, reverse engineer or redistribute protected parts of Errata except where the law expressly allows it.
Errata does not claim ownership of your original uploaded study materials.
10. Privacy
Our handling of information is explained in the Errata Privacy Policy.
By using the service, you acknowledge that information will be processed as described there.
11. Third-party services
Errata depends on third-party services for functions including hosting, storage, analytics, performance monitoring and artificial intelligence.
Those services may occasionally be unavailable or change how they operate.
We are not responsible for outages or failures that are outside our reasonable control.
12. Availability and changes
Errata may be updated, changed, limited, suspended or discontinued.
Features may be added, removed or modified, and usage limits may change.
We do not guarantee uninterrupted access to the service or that every feature will always remain available.
Where reasonably practical, significant changes affecting users will be communicated through the service.
13. Academic performance and results
Using Errata does not guarantee any particular grade, examination result, academic outcome or improvement in performance.
Learning outcomes depend on many factors outside Errata’s control.
You remain responsible for how you study and how you use information generated by the service.
14. Warranties
Errata is provided on an “as available” basis.
To the extent permitted by law, we do not make warranties that the service will always be available, error-free, completely secure or completely accurate.
Nothing in these Terms removes any warranty, consumer right or other protection that applicable law says cannot be excluded.
15. Liability
To the extent permitted by applicable law, Errata and its operator will not be responsible for indirect, incidental or consequential loss resulting from use of, inability to use, or reliance on the service.
This includes losses resulting from inaccurate generated material, loss of access to a guest workspace or temporary service interruption.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful, including any rights or remedies that cannot legally be excluded.
16. Ending access
You may stop using Errata at any time.
We may suspend, restrict or terminate access where reasonably necessary because of misuse, security concerns, legal requirements, attempts to bypass service limits, or conduct that violates these Terms.
17. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as Errata develops or where legal or operational requirements change.
The current version will be posted on this page with its effective date.
If a change is material, we will take reasonable steps to make the updated Terms available before or when the change takes effect.
Continued use of Errata after updated Terms take effect means you agree to the updated Terms, where permitted by law.
18. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia. You submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Victoria, Australia, except where mandatory consumer or other applicable laws give you rights that cannot be changed by these Terms.
